XYZ COMICS is a comic book series produced by IDW Publishing. The comic was released in September 2021 and is written by R. Crumb. It is an exciting take on the world of superheroes. Unlike many comic books, XYZ COMICS will have some real substance in it unlike many others.
This series was inspired by several different superheroes. For example, Spider-Man and Wolverine are basically the same thing, but they have been given contrasting characteristics. When creating this comic, Crumb had to figure out how these two would interact with each other. It also has to show the conflict that exists between these two super heroes. It is a great deal of work and skill.
In terms of story, XYZ COMICS #1 introduces us to our main characters. We meet Jessica Troy, a.k.a. Hell Bunny, who is an ordinary schoolgirl who is also a lifelong fan of superheroes like Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four.
Jessica is one of five surviving X-Men who are force to leave their homeland when Magneto attacks. They have to seek refuge at an abandoned facility where they are forced to live, fight, and sleep with other X-Men. They soon discover that they have super human abilities and after discovering an android called Surge, they are transformed into Teenagers again. They team up with some other new super teens as well including Forge, Beast, and Jubilee, who are also X-Men. These young recruits become the core of the comic book and each one contributes something important to the overall plot.
As the X-Men continue to fight villains like the Omega virus, Magneto, and Dracula, more members of the team begin to join. After a massive battle with Magneto, the X-Men save the planet Earth and everyone is restored. However, some X-Men never return home and in the absence of their leader Cyclops, they disband the team in the year 2021. Wolverine, whom Cyclops left behind to find a way to fix the Phoenix project, along with other X-Men were left alone as they went into deep meditation.
The last four ongoing X-Men series have been lead by Wolverine, who is starring in the current series. This is followed by New X-Men which is a spinoff of the original X-Men series. Next is Old Man Wolverine, written by Steve Englehart and drawn by Brettney Young. Finally, there is Generation X, a five part miniseries written by James Patterson and drawn by Bill Sienkman. All these series have received critical acclaim and a number of dedicated X-Men fans continue to read these comic books.
In the latest issue of the long running comic book, the final installment of the Old Man Wolverine series, Wolverine and the X-Men faced a formidable foe when the team's enemy called the Sentinels attacked the island of Manhattan. Wolverine's fight with the Sentinels would leave him with a adamantium shield, but as some of the Sentinels were killed, he lost his right arm in the process. As the X-Men struggled to deal with the evil Sentinels, a mysterious stranger appeared and took over the minds of the X-Men. She managed to help the X-Men defeat the Sentinels and free mutantkind once again.
The long running X-Men series has featured some of the most memorable villains in the comic book world. While some of these nemeses have become beloved characters, like Wolverine, Ghost Rider and Professor X, others such as Sentinel and Negasonic are only comic book additions. Of course, Wolverine and the X-Men have featured some incredible villains such as Mystique, Phoenix, bones, Maggia, Kang the Conqueror and Count Dracula. Wolverine's series finale will no doubt provide a lot of character satisfaction for long time X-Men fans.
