Buyer's Guide: Old Man Logan Comic

Old Man Logan Comic Review

Old Man Logan is a comic book series written by Jim Logan and drawn by Stan Lee. The main character is a former mutant named Logan who has undergone many changes due to the various environments he finds himself in. He was once a fearless warrior who carried a powerful adamantium armor that could withstand most attacks, but now has been mentally and physically shattered by his experiences. His armor grants him several super powers including: flight, energy absorption, time travel, and the ability to regenerate.

The Old Man Logan story arc starts when the original Old Man goes into suspended animation following an explosion that takes place within the Canadian woods. Because of this, a freak electrical storm occurs which leaves him near death. He then becomes the host for psychic healer Dr. Jeanette "Paparazzi" Roman, who intends on using the power of the Omen of Death to transform the aging old man back into a young boy.

Along with the help of X-Men wolverine Scott Summers, the two decide to help Old Man Logan overcome his present issues with the timeline. While the X-Men try to stop the impending death of Jeanette, the Old Man and Wolverine travel back in time to prevent the death of Dr. Abraham van Helsing, the only person who can actually use the Omen of Death. As they travel back in time, they learn that the Omen of Death was used to save Jeanette from Magneto, the future version of Wolverine.

When they return to the present, the X-Men realize that the Omen of Death is incomplete, as the code was erased long ago. With the help of Reed, a genius and professor, they discover the key to completing the Omen of Death. When they reunite with Dr. Jeanette, she reveals that the mysterious and powerful mutant called Magneto has been manipulating everyone around him, including herself, since he formed an experimental team of young X-Men to use for his own personal gain. The Old Man and Wolverine then go after Magneto, while Cyclops, Jeanette, and Rogue join forces against Magneto.

The next issue brings back Old Man Logan and Rogue, who have tracked Magneto to the island of Manhattan. Magneto tries to attack Old Man Logan again, but he is knocked down by Storm Wolverine. Meanwhile, Jeanette and Rogue steal the serum that will enable them to regenerate healthily after being infected with a special virus created by Magneto. They then use the serum on themselves, which allows them to become powerful beings.

Some additional events include the return of Wolverine's ally Cyclops, who joins the X-Men once again. He tries to convince Wolverine to work alongside him against Magneto, but Wolverine refuses. Hawkeye is also an important X-Men character, and he assists the X-Men in many different ways. He also joins the X-Men in the future.

The Old Man Logan story arc ends with the X-Men fighting against a Sentinisher. The enemy makes an X-Men fan's day even more perfect when Wolverine's father is killed. Wolverine then goes into a mental institution for rehabilitation where Dr. Strange helps him overcome his disorder. Wolverine then returns to battle Magneto, but ends up losing the battle. He is then taken under the custody of Professor X.

Old Man Logan has received a lot of critical acclaim from hardcore X-Men fans. This is largely due to the fact that there are no other old-timers in this comic series aside from the role of Wolverine. Mark Millar is also known for crafting incredible action sequences that look as tough and challenging as any action film or superhero movie. Wolverine has been proven to be the most iconic X-Men characters ever, and this newest comic is sure to cement that status. Other than Cable and Storm, Old Man Logan is one of the best storylines in the entire franchise.
