The Legend of Korra is a web comic series based on the Nickelodeon animated TV show, The Legend of Korra. The show is set after the highly popular movie adaptation, The Last Airbender, and follows Avatar Korra, a girl from the Avatar Islands, and Asami, abender from the Southern Water Tribe. Both girls become partners in a deadly plan to eliminate General Iron Fist, who has command of all the bending forces in the world.
The Legend of Korra was created as a joint project between Nickelodeon and DC comics. The comic book story is written by Michael Dante DiMartino, with artwork provided by illustrated graphic novel expert illustrator Wendy Atkins. Nickelodeon also owns the rights to the Avatar franchise, so it is not a surprise that the animation was created as a companion comic to The Legend of Korra. A release date for the second season of Legend of Korra has yet to be announced.
The success of Avatar the graphic novels is credited to Nickelodeon's combination of family-friendly action and comedy, combined with outstanding animation. Animation is a relatively new concept when it comes to comic books, and Avatar has proven that it has the ability to appeal to a wide variety of audiences. Animation not only adds new dimensions to the story, but it can also help draw in new audiences, especially among younger viewers who have become accustomed to the format.
The Legend of Korra is part of Nickelodeon's strategy to increase its audience, particularly among female viewers. In an effort to attract more female viewers, Nickelodeon recently developed and produced two new cartoons: Avatar the Last Airbender and Avatar: The Promise. Both of these shows have proven to be successful, drawing in both men and women. These Avatar cartoons are part of Nickelodeon's strategy to expand its Avatar franchise, which is currently scheduled to feature four films and several TV series.
Since Nickelodeon produces both The Legend of Korra and The Last Airbender, it is perfectly suited to combine the two into a single franchise. This would allow children who have enjoyed the previous two cartoons to continue experiencing the fun and excitement the Avatar stories provide. The combination of Avatar and Nickelodeon's cartoon expertise could result in an exciting, successful adventure for young viewers. Not only could Avatar lead to another wave of popular cartoons, but it could also lead to some very unique comic book opportunities.
The Legend of Korra is based on the successful Nickelodeon cartoon show, featuring a teenager who travels to the world of Avatar, where she discovers that her Avatar body has been stolen by a tribe of giants. A spirit guide, whom she meets in order to help her return to her home world, tells her that she must defeat the evil Avatar leaders in order to restore her avatar form. Once she arrives on earth, she must become a masked warrior in order to face off against the massive horde of Earthbenders, whom she faces off against alongside Avatar. It is from here that the cartoon begins to take shape, as the main conflict kicks off in the form of a tug-of-war between thebender and the fireside rebel group. The Legend of Korra continues to grow in popularity, becoming Nickelodeon's top rated animated comedy for the past three seasons, as well as earning the show an impressive number of awards during its run.
One of the most unique features of the Legend of Korra cartoons is that it manages to combine some elements of both the Avatar and The Last Airbender comics while maintaining its own unique style. For example, while the majority of the shows humor comes from Avatar, the last minute scenes feature Last Airbender elements, such as bending metal through the use of ice and fire respectively. The Legend of Korra features the same sort of blend of humor and drama that was seen in the popular Avatar series, but provides fans with a unique third act to follow along with. This is because the last moments of each season of Avatar feature new characters that were not seen in previous seasons, such as the Earth Kingdom and the Fire Nation. The combination of these two fates creates a never ending circle of conflict and resolution that ties together the Legend of Korra's plotlines. As a result, these unique elements provide a fan with a full dose of entertainment while enjoying the end result of the animation.
When it comes to the newest season of Avatar, the fourth, the writers and producers of Nickelodeon have decided to give their fan a chance to see what all the fuss is about by fully jumping into the Avatar storyline. By doing this, they are giving their audience a chance to experience everything that has come before without having to go back and watch old seasons of Avatar and its follow ups. Additionally, the Legend of Korra Comics have a completely different feel than that of any other cartoon Avatar has provided fans with. Because of this, Nickelodeon has given their audience something entirely different to chew on than they could have from season one of the Avatar.
