The latest Fornite comic is certainly a bit different from the ones that fans are used to. This time around, Epic has teamed up with DC Comics in order to produce a brand new Fortnite Comic Book series in the same world as Batman: Earthfall. With the success of the original game and its sequel, it's safe to say that people are already looking forward to a third in the near future. So what can we expect from the new game?
For the uninitiated, the plot of the story follows a familiar pattern that you'd see in a superhero movie. In the first episode, the dark knight sacrifices himself for the elimination of a terrorist group. From that point on, he is dubbed the "eless", and the fate of the city he was protecting becomes his responsibility. Unfortunately, he is killed while saving the lives of a handful of civilians. Upon his demise, a mysterious stranger offers to save the city, but he is too late.
Fortnite Comic, or the Fortnite: The End of Times story, is not as elaborate as other comics, as Epic Games' narrative design is quite bare bones compared to their other games. Nevertheless, the player will still be rewarded with several benefits such as the use of an energy gun, the ability to change into a bat, and an enhanced grappling hook. The Fortnite Comic is also different from the others in that it uses a code system, much like the popular free Runescape game. The player will be able to collect all sorts of rewards along the way including items to be used for various tasks throughout the game, codes for things such as gaining more experience, and even a mysterious "umbrella" that protects them from the end of the world.
To start the Fortnite Comic, you'll have to jump right into the story. It starts out with a tragic story of a young boy who, along with his friends, was on his way to meet his destiny. This boy was about to purchase a sailboat when a tragic accident occurred, leaving the boy with no life saving skills. Lucky for him, he got to find help in the form of an epic and powerful "Aurora" who rescues the boy's friends along with him from certain doom.
In the comic, each of the characters has a different trait which makes them unique. For example, one of the boys has a glowing "aura" that helps him identify with others. Each character also has a different skill which can be improved by equipping the correct code to your browser. The code will unlock new items and abilities for each character which can help make each play-through more varied. One code I found enabled me to transform into a glider, enabling me to scale cliffs more quickly.
For those who are interested in getting as much armor as possible, there is an Easter egg hunt which awards you with six codes. The codes work for all types of rewards and are obtainable within the "challenge" section of the Fortnite comics. On my last go through I made sure I collected all the coins I could so I did not have to wait to get any of them. The rewards don't last long, however, so it wasn't worth the wait.
The main event of the comics involved the return of the evil "Void Guy". To fight him, the boys must enter into a draw for a grand prize. I entered my first ever "draw" and got a cool blue vest which would definitely go great with my blue overalls. The other draws gave me rare items such as a silver gun and a golden gun. The grand prize was a special vehicle which will be added to my game when I reach level 40.
For the price of only nine dollars I got a code which added me to the "draw" for the super rare "super rare" super bumblebee vehicle. It's actually nice to be able to collect items in games that you never actually see or even use. These codes make the gaming experience worthwhile and let me know that I can definitely become a collector if I find the right Fortnite Comic Codes. It's nice to be rewarded but it's nice to be able to take that reward and use it in-game to level up instead of waiting for something to drop from the sky!
