The adventures of the mighty Thor continue in the hit blockbuster movie Thor: The Dark World. The award-winning third Thor film introduced Chris Evans as Captain America, while Anthony Hopkins as the warrior prince of hammer. Chris Evans and Anthony Hopkins are currently filming the fourth Thor movie, Thor: The Infinity War. One can't help wondering what has made Thor such a smashing success since the original comic book began. Well, let's put it to a test and see...
Let's start with the costume. In the comics, Thor was once a devoted Hela who was possessed of an amazing magical power. She later discovered that her home planet had been invaded by another race called the Skrulls. Thor was forced to flee his home in order to escape and find help. Thor was captured and brought before the King of the Skrulls, Malekith the Accursed.
Malekith possessed all sorts of telepathic abilities including mind control. He also boasted an army of warriors, including a female Skrull named attendant whom he tempted with a mysterious golden egg. Thor attempted to use his hammer to smite Malekith, but the Skrull warrior managed to break free and flee. Thor pursued Malekith through outer space, finally confronting him in the middle of the cosmos.
As the two battled, Malekith prepared to crush Thor's hammer, but Thor used his own hammer to deflect the weapon. The hammer shattered and Malekith fled in utter desperation. Thor charged after Malekith, but the Skrull warrior easily caught up with the enraged hero and squeezed out a bolt of lightning from his hand. Thor broke free of Malekith's grasp and escaped through a portal created by the dying monarch.
The next morning, Malekith attempted to make another assault on the world's population, but Thor quickly defeated him. However, Thor was returned to his own dimension by a mysterious stranger. The stranger instructed him to travel across the universe using his wand, but when Thor arrived he discovered that Malekith's forces were still in his realm. Thor attempted to enter Malekith's domain via a portal, but he was stopped by a being called the Chitauri who lived on Earth. This being told Thor that if he did not destroy the world Malekith would take over and rule it with an iron hand.
When Thor went to Earth, Malekith's armies were waiting for him. However, he had no choice but to destroy the Skrulls again. He struck the cities that had been protected by the Skrulls, burning their to the ground. Thor and a group of other heroes combined their efforts to defeat Malekith and prevent further harm from his armies. When Malekith was defeated, Thor received a boon of power: his entire body was transformed into a powerful force for good.
Thor was crowned King of the Iron Crown and set up his fortress atop a mountain. He and his fellow warriors would guard the realms that the gods had left untouched. Thor was known to be an expert on the arts of warfare, cooking and prophecy. He also developed a daughter named Jane who became an accomplished cook and warrior herself.
Thor's Hammer was a huge hammer that could be used to crush enemies, to pierce the armor of warriors and to smash the enemy's head. The weapon was made out of the metal called Mjolnir which was forged by the hammer of Thor. The weapon was later adopted by the evil villain Thanos. He later used it to carve the face of the beloved lover of Odysseus, Calypso. In modern times, The Female Loki also uses her hammer to attack her enemies.
