Comics Bob is a physics-based puzzle game in which you play the role of a scientist trying to prevent the destruction of earth. But the hero isn't alone and need to accompany an evil troglodyte on every stage to go up each level choosing the correct choice from the panel displayed to him. The whole objective of Comics Bob is to save Earth and prevent it from becoming a big planet of chaos and despair. The storyline progresses step by step with several levels to complete.
In the beginning of the game presents you with several clues as to what has happened. When you return home you find that your house has been destroyed in some sort of alien attack. You are then awakened from your slumber and found lying unconscious in the dark. Your only chance to survive is to find the truth about the attack and exact revenge on those responsible for your son's death, or to figure out who started the whole thing in the first place and put an end to their diabolical scheme.
Along your journey you will uncover many secrets and a number of upgrades for your Caveman suit, so that you can become even more powerful than you were during your early days. When you finally reach the seventh level your abilities will be enhanced yet again, giving you the ability to solve puzzles and run faster. This time your only task is to reach the bottom of the cave before your enemies do, without touching the levers to activate the submersible conveyor belt.
Although this game is more adventure and platformer than it is a physics-based puzzle, the game definitely provides its user with enough options and features to make it worth your while. It has all the traits of an excellent video game: great animation, good sound effects, superb artwork and great story. The controls are responsive, intuitive and don't cause too much delay in the playing experience. All the graphics are very sharp and colorful, and there are many different themes to choose from, ranging from the ancient caveman theme, to the modern minimalist cartoon style.
You are placed into the prehistoric world of Bob, a boy who finds himself trapped deep underground. To get out you must find the way to the surface. Unfortunately the only way you know how to do so is by exploring the various caves and caverns. Fortunately you have allies to help you on your way including the caveman who can help you solve puzzles and run faster. Each character in the game has different attributes which, when used in sequence, provide additional benefits and can help you on your quest. The game is full of challenging puzzles to solve, but it does have its fair share of funny moments, and there is no doubt that it would appeal to a wide age group.
Although the graphics might look a little rough around the edges, and the voice sounds are a little dated, I believe this game to be one of the best retro styled games on the market today. It's fun, adventurous and has a lot of replay value. For those of us who remember playing comics as a child, then I would definitely recommend this to people looking for a good old-fashioned simulation of a superhero. And if you happen to be a Bob the builder yourself, then this game would be a right choice to build Bob's house, and solve puzzles to reach the top of Bob's building.
In addition to having an excellent storyline, which is told through the point-and-click gameplay, the animation style is another reason why this game is a classic cartoon fan favorite. The prehistoric caveman themed visuals are extremely faithful, and the characters look very lifelike. If you happen to like watching the classic animated heroes of our time on television or in movies, this could easily translate into enjoyment when playing this puzzle game. You could also grow along with Bob, and the interactions with his faithful ally and brother Buzz and the rest of the prehistoric crew of the Caveman Express are entertaining throughout.
In conclusion, if you are a true Bob the Builder fan, and have fond memories of playing these prehistoric theme-based PC games, then this one definitely appeals to you. It's a simple concept, but that simple concept is laced with enough ingenious twists and turns to keep you hooked on your computer screen for many hours. It's worth checking out, and considering if it might be something you'd like to play on a regular basis. Plus it's free, so what's not to like? So why not get online and enjoy some of the most pure mind-bending puzzles that you'll ever find, and unlock your inner caveman now?
