There was a break in the comics where the character was no longer pursuing the Riddler, and instead focused on stopping the criminals of Gotham City that posed a threat to the future of Gotham. With the arrival of Dark Knight movie franchise, the characters of Batman now have many more stories to tell. The most recent one involves Batman meeting the new female Batman, and dealing with her parents, Harvey and syndrome. The Batman of today is far different than the dark knight that fought crime in Batman: The Dark Knight.
